It’s easy to get lost in the conversation about building, constructing and the technicalities of furniture making. But the heart of woodworking is not about making furniture. At it’s core, it’s about conversing with the wood and letting the timber guide you towards its next life. As a maker, you’re called to honour what it was, serving what it will become and understanding what a privilege it is to write a chapter in the legacy of something that outlasts us all.
It starts like this…
Sometimes, it’s the periphery memory of butterflies fleeting around at dusk on a cool Queensland morning, steeped into the sepia toned memory of childhood. At other times, it’s the distant sound of the waves crashing on the shores of Little Cove on those endless Australian Summer that lulls you into a reverie of being everything in the nothingness of time. At some point, these sensations and experiences find their way onto paper beneath the weight of a charcoal pencil.

From hand-carved dining tables fashioned from ancient Australian hardwoods, to bespoke cabinetry fitted into the curves of a luxury superyacht, Will's custom furniture commissions span residential, marine, commercial, and aviation environments across Australia and internationally.
What unites every piece is the same unhurried devotion to timber, to craft, and to the belief that truly beautiful furniture should feel as though it could not have been made by anyone else, for anyone else, in any other way.
These are some of the pieces Will Marx considers most his own. Not because they were the most complex, or the most celebrated, but because each one carries the full depth of his process. From the conversations shared with clients, to weeks of sketching, the prototypes built to scale, the timber selected by hand and studied for its grain and its story before a single cut was made.
Will's custom furniture commissions have taken him from private homes in Queensland to superyacht interiors on international waters, crafting bespoke hardwood pieces that are as functional as they are enduring.
Each commission on these pages began as a conversation and became in time, an heirloom that found belonging in a family’s story.

For the material, the client, the space, and the craft. Timber is not an object but a living material whose essence is very much alive. Will's work begins with listening to what that something is and weaving a client’s story and needs into the material. The end result is a collaborative trinity that could only have come about in this moment in time.
I | REVERENCE
Creating where no template exists and where it has never been done before. Will’s specialty is solving what mass production can never do. It could be a new space you’re proud to own and desire to put your own mark on with signature pieces that defines your unique style. From superyacht cabins, private jet interiors, to heritage homes with impossible proportions, these are his native terrain.
II | INGENUITY
A decision to commission an art is not about a purchase but the creation of an heirloom. A commission is a decision about what your space says about your story, not next year, but in four or even, 40 generations time. It is the role of the maker to ensure that the care, knowledge and commitment to build for the magnitude of that responsibility is carried out fatefully.

Will Marx works in timber in the way a poet works with letters. It is the medium by which his hand shapes a poem to nature, writing itself to tell the story of how every little seed, be in in the soil or in the heart, grows to the majesty of what it means to be of this world.
